I just came back from Celebration of Light and saw a bunch of idiots. These people make me want to shake my head in utter utter disbelief…
Idiot #1
We had staked out a decent size of sitting area on the beach with nobody in front of us. My friend Matt and his friends were there since 7 pm or so (firework started at 10 pm). Needless to say, I had my camera set up on the tripod ready to take pictures of the firework. About 2 minutes before the firework was about to start, a few people walked by with their bikes, put down their bikes, then sat right in front of us, blocking my camera entirely. Nope they didn’t even bother to look back to see who’s behind them. Hey buddy, I got one word for you – FUCK YOU!
Idiot #2
Of the idiots mentioned above one was a super idiot. This guy decided to leave his bike halfway submerged in the ocean. Hey buddy last time I checked I believe salty sea water is bad for your bike. When your bike starts to rust in the next few weeks don’t start bitching about how shitty the bike manufacture is.
Idiot #3
Drivers who think they are the biggest guy on the road. Buddy, there are thousands of pedestrians walking around and a few hundreds of bikers sharing the road with you. Please obey the traffic rules. Just because you are behind a few hundred pound machine doesn’t give you the right to go through round-abouts without stopping.
Idiot #4
Pedestrians think it’s their right to cross the street without looking around. I almost nailed two pedestrians while biking home from Vanier Park. Both of them just decided to walk out from behind parked cars and cross the road without looking what’s coming up on the road.
Idiot #5
Mothers with young kids that smoke. Smoking is bad for you, we all know that. Why people smoke in the first place is beyond my understanding. Because it looks cool? Hmm try that again. Anyway while sitting on the beach tonight I saw this mother (probably in her late 20′s, super super hot, MILF material) sitting with her 2 year old daughter. Guess what this mother is doing? Yep, you guessed it right, smoking in front of the daughter, blowing toxic 2nd hand smokes right at her young daughter. I’m not saying you shouldn’t smoke. If you want to wreck your body by smoking by all means go for it. It’s your body, not mine. Blowing 2nd hand smokes onto by-standers is bad already, but blowing 2nd hand smokes to youngin’s is just terrible!

I’l end the post here because I’m covered in sweat from just sitting in front of my laptop. For those of you that don’t know, Vancouver is experiencing a heat wave. Today it got up to nearly 34 degrees Celsius (that’s 93.2 F for you Americans). Surprisingly, this is actually the new all-time temperature record, the past record was 33.3 degree, set on August 9th, 1960. With this new record it kind of make me wonder if we’ll see a new all-time temperature record this winter. Brrr I hope not!
Allie left a very interesting comment in my last blog entry. I was going to post a reply but I think I’ll safe it for another post down the line. Don’t worry, I’ll post it later this week.

If it’s dry heat I think most Vancouverites could handle it but it’s very very humid too. I suppose it’s all relative, the hottest we usually get is ~25C so anything above 30C is considered as extraordinary. Besides, most households are not equipped with AC.

Idiots make watching those fireworks unpleasant.. I haven’t been to one in 3 or so years.
This heatwave is getting to old to fast … I wish it would just rain for 3 weeks straight as our lawns need it.
your pictures are unreal. that first fireworks one, unbelievable. you seriously need to do something with your photography. that’s some crazy talent.
Idiots are one common group that exist across cultures, countries and religions. And what’s more, they breed!

People can amaze me with this stuff. I agree!
I couldn’t agree more on the pedestrians, but I have to admit that I see my fair share of bike riders disobey the traffic laws here, too (like not stopping for stop signs or red lights). I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t always see them, esp. when they come up from behind and are in my blind spot for a bit.
